We bring hope and healing to children in our community.

Valley CAC clients are child victims of sexual and severe physical abuse. These young and vulnerable individuals will find that their needs are placed above all others and that the Valley CAC approach is compassionate, yet efficient. Throughout the intervention, investigation, prosecution, and treatment, Valley CAC provides no-cost services to children victims and their non-offending family members. All services are designed to reduce present trauma, better navigate the systems involved, and promote healing.

About Valley CAC

Our Services Include

  • Specialized forensic interviews
  • Family advocacy and support
  • Trauma-focused therapy
  • Multidisciplinary Team coordination

The key factor in the success of this fully accredited, non-profit organization is its public-private partnership with Law Enforcement, Child Protective Services, the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, Victim Witness, and Augusta Health Hospital. This collaborative multidisciplinary team (MDT) significantly improves yesterday’s response to child abuse in the following ways:

  • Children need only tell their story once to a specifically trained Forensic Interviewer, thereby greatly reducing further trauma.
  • The safety of the child is first and foremost.
  • Investigations are conducted by a united front and with added efficiency.
  • Continual team assessments keep victims on close radar.
  • Perpetrators are more likely to be held accountable.
  • Strengthening the family unit is a priority.
  • Non-offending family members also receive immediate support and guidance as needed.

Our Mission

Our mission is to build resilience, inspire healing, and lower the impact of trauma for survivors of child abuse and their families through collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, utilization of evidence-based practices, and education to create an empowered community.

Our Vision

Our vision is to cultivate a passion within our community to protect children so that we all may be untainted by the impact of childhood abuse and trauma.

THE CAC AT ROCKBRIDGE

In 2016, Valley CAC partnered with our friends at Project Horizon in Lexington, Virginia to provide CAC services to the children in the communities of Lexington, Buena Vista, and Rockbridge County. Prior to this partnership, children from these communities would have to drive, sometimes an hour or more, to come to our Staunton location. Now, through our collaboration with Project Horizon, these children can receive CAC services right in their own backyard.
