Valley CAC clients are child victims of sexual and severe physical abuse. These young and vulnerable individuals will find that their needs are placed above all others and that our approach is approach is compassionate, yet efficient. Throughout the intervention, investigation, prosecution, and treatment, Valley CAC provides no-cost services to child victims and their non-offending family members. All services are designed to reduce present trauma, better navigate the systems involved, and promote healing.
The key factor in the success of this fully accredited, non-profit organization is its public-private partnership with Law Enforcement, Child Protective Services, the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, Victim Witness, and Augusta Health Hospital. This collaborative multidisciplinary team (MDT) significantly improves yesterday’s response to child abuse in the following ways:
Our mission is to build resilience, inspire healing, and lower the impact of trauma for survivors of child abuse and their families through collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, utilization of evidence-based practices, and education to create an empowered community.
Our vision is to cultivate a passion within our community to protect children so that we all may be untainted by the impact of childhood abuse and trauma.
In 2016, Valley CAC partnered with our friends at Project Horizon in Lexington, Virginia to provide CAC services to the children in the communities of Lexington, Buena Vista, and Rockbridge County. Prior to this collaboration, children from these communities would have to drive, sometimes an hour or more, to come to our Staunton location. Now, through our alliance with Project Horizon, these children can receive CAC services right in their own backyard.
