Mental Health Counseling

Valley CAC has a full-time counselor on staff to provide mental health counseling for children/teen victims of abuse.  Our counselor, Jodi Myers, uses a trauma-informed treatment approach to guide her work with people who have experienced sexual assault or abuse. Jodi has extensive training and knowledge in trauma and abuse in order to provide the best care for children and, at times, non-offending caregivers.

Jodi uses several treatment modalities and tailors each counseling session to the child’s needs. This includes, but may not be limited to: expressive work (art, music, poetry, etc.), sand tray, Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Play Therapy, parental support, and psychoeducation. If there is a more appropriate treament facility or provider, Jodi will provide referral information to caregivers.
